Cruising with Ambassador

We have had the best time on Ambassador's Ambition. I was SO impressed

As you know, I only sell things that I love!

I have booked so many people on this ship from North Shields I had to on and try it out for myself. It did certainly not disappoint. Here is my full review...

Lets talk food

There really is no way you can be hungry on this ship.

For your evening meal there is an early and a late sitting in the main restaurants. This is a five course menu, each day with something different. There is always the steak, salmon and chicken on every night though if you don't fancy the specials. The desserts were obviously my favourite. Borough market is your go-to place for casual buffet style food. There was a really great choice here and all the food was fresh. Cake and custard every day was also a winner in my view.

There are also two speciality restaurants on board, a European deli and an Indian restaurant which looked wonderful but I didn't get chance to try them. In case you are still peckish after 3 full meals, there is afternoon tea available through the afternoon where the scones were amazing. They also bring canapés round the bars on a late evening.

I have allergies and they were catered for exceptionally well, perhaps the best out of any cruise line I have been on. So bearing in mind Ambassador Cruise Line is considered a premium value cruise line, I was very impressed.

Now onto the drinks... I do love a cocktail (or 5!)

My favourite drink had to be the Ambassador Cocktail! Included in the full board price is tea and coffee. Proper English teabags are available you'll be glad to know, and the coffee is lovely too.

Across the seven bars on this ship, they all have slightly different menus. There is a fab selection of wines, spirits, cocktails, beers and soft drinks. The standard of the drinks well exceeded my expectation for a value cruise line. The spirits and mixers in the cocktails for example were branded like Aperol and Archers Peach Snapps.

With this cruise line there are 3 different drinks packages;

  • Experience - soft drinks package including branded soft drinks by the can and cocktails.
  • Explorer - house wines, spirits, beers and cocktails. Does include branded products like Smirnoff and Gordon's. Also includes soft drinks by the glass and cocktails.
  • Expedition - all house and premium wines, spirits, cocktails. Speciality teas, coffees and soft drinks by the can.

If you buy any drinks package, it includes the gratuities that would otherwise be added to your onboard account so I'd always recommend it! The staff on this cruise line are incredible! They couldn't do more to help you. A special shout out to Dian, Anand and Rishma - the most amazing bartenders who made our trip such a wonderful experience.

Time to talk about the facilities of the ship.

Probably my favourite feature of Ambition was the themed restaurants and bars

  • The Angel Bar - casual bar named after our beautiful Angel of the North. It overlooks the beautiful atrium. I really should say this is my favourite bar but…
  • The Cavern - Scouscers seriously do know how to party and Ambition has captured this spirit perfectly in this lively bar.
  • Borough Market - buffet restaurant named after the London market.
  • Hollywood and Buckingham - the main dining restaurant named after our countries famous palaces.
  • The Palladium - the main entertainment area and the heart of the ship.
